Human Resources Committee
By now you have hopefully experienced some significant changes in your dining experience at the Club. Remember last season? The “great resignation” was in full swing and we could not find quality servers, food runners or cooks -- nor could just about anyone else in the hospitality industry in Southwest Florida! We were understaffed in the front of the house and struggling to meet legitimate expectations on member experience. The solution was found in a two-fold strategy: retaining the full-time

staff we had and recruiting experienced seasonal staff. While time will tell over the next few months, we believe we have set the stage to successfully meet the challenge. The H2B seasonal workers are now on board and fully engaged. They bring with them many years of experience in hospitality from around the world (including native recipes like the jerk chicken prepared recently by our new Jamaican cook). Carrie, Youssef and Marla have created an engaging and thoughtful training protocol for all eight workers so they can hit the ground running. The initial feedback we have received from members so far has been very positive, and the workers themselves are delighted to work in such an inviting and friendly environment. For the first time in some years we are fully staffed in the kitchen and dining room. A lone “thank you” in not enough to express our gratitude to our members who have warmly welcomed our new H2B staff, learning their names, and treating them with the same respect and warmth you have always shown to our year-around permanent staff. Dining surveys of our members reflect continuing improvement in food quality, presentation and table service. Our Go Fund Me project – thanks to the generosity of our member s - generated over $19,000 to provide financial assistance to staff who incurred property damage in Hurricane Ian. We continue to be a very desirable venue for weddings. And, thanks to publicity generated by our Marketing and Communications Committee, we were recently voted The Best Yacht Club in the Naples Area, ranking higher than our friends at the Naples Yacht and Sailing Club and Naples Yacht Club! Steady management and experienced staff, along with engaged members, make an unbeatable combination! I encourage everyone to dine at the Club and experience our new path forward to make member experience a truly enjoyable one. Kevin Hennessy Chair, HR Committee
