December 2022 Anchorlines

Marketing & Communications

Looking back at 2022, the Communications Committee has been busy! Following the Communication Protocols developed in April 2021, the Committee has received positive comments from members about the reduced emails received from the Club. At the same time, they receive timely information. In the Spring, as part of the Operations Team, Vicki and Michelle meet with staff bi-weekly to discuss details of upcoming events. This is very helpful to Club Operations as it ensures we obtain information and details available to inform members on a timely basis. In May this year, we again sponsored the annual member survey and provided the results to the Board. Using professional photographers for many events has proven helpful for our website, press releases, and social media. While we no longer rely solely on Members for all our photos, we enjoy receiving member photos to share! This fall, we tweaked the menus slightly for a more modern look, updated unique menu designs (Boaters Night, Sunset Cruise, etc.), and created templates to make the creation process more straightforward and afford consistency in style, font, etc. Our Social Media sites on Facebook and Instagram continue to increase in followers. This is a great way to publicize who we are and what we do. Do you like or follow us? We worked with Northstar: • We offered training sessions on using our App, and members who attended the sessions found them very helpful. We also have members available during Happy Hour to answer questions about the app. • To have the Member Card added to the App. This is helpful when visiting Reciprocal Clubs as it includes your picture to help identify you as an MIYC member. (Have you added your photo to the Roster?) We periodically review our website's public and private sides and look for ways to improve the look and functionality. One particular highlight of the past year was that we were voted Best Yacht Club in the Naples area as part of the Naples Daily News annual contest in September – just before Hurricane Ian landed. We celebrated on November 11 th with a presentation at the Club by Dave Campagna from Naples Daily News . I want to thank the members of my Committee for their diligence, guidance, and dedication: • Ellie Everitt, for putting together the Anchorlines every month – your eye for layout is fantastic. • Susan Hieftje for working with the Bridge on communicating with members on all the boating activities – I appreciate her timeliness and attention to detail. • Carol Comeaux - for working with me on maintaining the website – keeping all the information up to date, and helping to promote the Club through Press Releases. • Linda Marr - for creating the monthly calendars and the new menu templates. • Vicki Bretthauer for always being available to answer my questions and sharing her knowledge and history of the Club. • Deb Melges – for always being available to proofread emails and Anchorlines articles. Your keen eye is very much appreciated. Michelle Hennessy, Chair -- Marketing & Communications
