Topics covered in the past have included the Employment Rights Act, London Gatwick Airport expansion, the road haulage industry and the future of artificial intelligence in our industry. Look out for details of the next event in spring 2027. • BIFA National Conference – re-established in 2025, the BIFA National Conference will return to The Slate at Warwick Conferences in September this year. Tickets are still on sale for this two-day event which gives BIFA Members the opportunity to network with peers, exhibitors and speakers, as well as the BIFA policy and compliance team, the regional representatives and members of the board of directors. • BIFA Freight Service Awards – now in their 38th year, the BIFA Freight Service Awards are seen as the ultimate recognition for freight forwarders in the UK. The competition opens every summer, with winners announced by the sponsors at the celebrity-hosted ceremony in January. To enter the 2026 competition, go to How To Enter

This month we will take a closer look at the events that BIFA stages for Members and how these meet the pillars of information and guidance, and industry promotion, and the value that they can bring. Events Following the COVID-19 pandemic, many people felt that in-person events were a thing of the past, but the year-on-year increase in visitor numbers to events such as this year’s Multimodal exhibition (up 7.5% in 2026 over 2025) prove otherwise. BIFA stages both local and national events exclusively for Members, bringing together expert speakers on a wide-range of topics and providing up-to-date information affecting day-to-day operations. Additionally, educational webinars are hosted when specific topics are identified as being of interest to the membership. Some events take place virtually, with the majority happening in-person at venues the length and breadth of the country.
