Ardmac subscribed to and had our sustainability performance assessed by EcoVadis. EcoVadis operates an evidence-based online platfoarm, providing supplier sustainability ratings and allowing companies to assess the Environmental, Social & Corporate Governance (ESG) performance of their global suppliers, and currently rates over 100,000 companies in 175 countries, across 200+ industries. The EcoVadis sustainability assessment Ratings and Scorecards system is an evaluation of how well a company has integrated the principles of Sustainability/CSR into their business and management system. We are pleased to say that Ardmac have achieved a silver rating at our first attempt, placing us at the 73rd percentile, which means our score is higher than or equal to the score of 73% of all companies rated to date. An action plan has been put in place and will be implemented by the Sustainability work group to build and improve upon this rating during the next round of assessments in Summer 2023. The sustainability work group comprises of Michele Magee, Robert Farrington, Terry Keegan and myself.

DCs for Bees Orchards in the Community

After months of planning, we’ve finally arrived at the DCs for Bees Orchards in the Community planting season!

Thanks to your support and involvement we are delighted to announce that by the end of this winter Host in Ireland will have planted 2,792 orchards, that includes Ardmac’s 100 tree’s. That’s a phenomenal 13,960 fruit trees that will have found homes in every county on the island of Ireland. Thank you so much for making this initiative so successful - our pollinators will certainly reap the benefit.

Did you know that looking after our bee friends is one of the most important sustainability actions we can take? These fantastic but powerful little insects help plants, fruit and vegetables grow and are a huge part of the bio-diversity we all depend on.

Well done to everyone involved.

Christmas Traditions

to anxiously await Santa’s arrival. The getting up super early has thankfully gotten later with age but Christmas morning we open gifts and they head off for a sea-swim, I haven’t given in to that part...yet! Irish Coffee for breakfast. All the family plays ‘frienemies’. We each bring in a funny present (or a really cool one to guarantee chaos) and names gets picked out of a hat. The first person selects whatever present they want, but whoever is next has the change to keep the present they picked up OR change it with someone else...... Ideally you keep hoping you are the last one as you can choose whichever present you want !! Family meal on Christmas eve followed by Mass. The young members of the family prepare the Christmas Tree, mother prepare the foods that will all have at Christmas lunch. And sometimes we all stay together and chop finely ingredients for beef salad and prepare the festive cakes. And hoping that during this time children will visit us and sing Christmas song for sweets. Candles on the tree. We have mimosas on Christmas morning and the girls in my family wear matching pyjamas and recreate a photo taken years ago.

Watching Elf on Xmas eve :) Mulled wine after mass with the whole extended family. About 40 of us crammed into one living room. Goal Mile Every Christmas Morning. Early dinner, quizzes, bingo (for money) and kitchen disco afterwards. Famiy dinner, visiting relatives, Christmas movies. Christmas pyjamas party. Getting me to make breakfast.... Wearing matching PJs. Pub on Xmas eve after mass. My cousins come to my house for dinner. All our traditions are changing this year. Don’t know if I like it very much. I’ll just have to wait and see. My step-daughters come up on Christmas Eve, we get take-away, play a few rounds of darts, watch a christmas movie and then head to bed

22

Christmas 2022

Christmas Eve when kids in bed we put on National Lampoons Christmas Vacation and have Jawbox Gin, Ginger Ale and Honeycomb. Christmas morning Sinead and I wake up early and exchange our own gifts, then I get my Christmas morning training session in. When Kids wake, I (Dad, my own Dad did this in my house) always goes downstairs first to make sure Santa has been and gone. We then have both families over for Dinner and a day of fun. (Ryan Rocks) We Climb Mount Errigal beside every year at Christmas some time if weather lets us. Meeting for church on Christmas morning and going to each other houses for dinner. No arguing. Mixing the puddings. Swim on Chritmas day. Family time get-together / eat drink and be merry. It is the only time of year all the family go to mass and then to the pub after mass on Christmas eve. Family fry-up after mass on Christmas Eve. Santa presents Christmas morning - kids’ reactions are everything!

Climb a mountain Mass on Christmas Eve with the family Giving food hampers to all the senior citizens in our local town. Typical Christmas tradition in the Philippines is gathering of the whole clan. We normally celebrate it on Christmas eve and we have games for the kids, exchange gift, lots of food and drinks. (Jerrick) (10/10 cheese) - When my wife and I put up the Christmas tree every year we ALWAYS put Elf (w/ Will Ferrell) on the TV, the lights always go and first and before we switch them on she closes her eyes, counts to 3 & blows on the tree as if switching the lights on....something that she has done since a child which we now like to do together as tradition :) Baking cakes & puds together. Go to the pub on xmas eve. All the family coming home for Christmas dinner. There’s not a present to be opened until all of my family are up and in the living room and this also goes for our 5 dogs , we wouldn’t want them to miss out!! (Lauren O’Shea) Cant beat a well iced Baileys on Christmas morning with the whole family after mass. Christmas Eve board game nights! (Peter J)

The B.I.G North Pole 2023 Sea Ice Research Expedition Edel Kieran will be one of a team of six going on an expedition to the Arctic Ocean sea ice next year- before it’s gone.

Here is a brief overview of her expedition and the science. More here : https://www.bignorthpole.com/the-expedition

Coming together from around the globe this team of like-minded women is mindful of the fact that they may be some of the last people ever to be able to stand at the North Pole on frozen ocean. It is this terrible likelihood that inspires and unites them. The sound of the ice cracking and moving below the tent at night is only one of the frightening experiences they will face. The team will each spend a few hours every night in camp on polar bear watch gazing up at the northern lights. This will be one of the most memorable experiences. Facing temperatures that can fall as low as 40C/F, the B.I.G. expedition team will ski across the surface of the frozen Arctic Ocean to reach the North Pole in April 2023. Hauling everything they will need during their journey in sledges that they drag behind them, they will camp out on the ice and use the 24-hour daylight to navigate their way through obstacles of ice rubble and open water on the pack ice. It is a constantly shifting landscape that poses many risks.

24

Christmas 2022

The B.I.G team will draw on their united effort to haul their pulks which will weigh upwards of 85kgs over the dynamic ice of the frozen ocean. Navigating around open water and manoeuvring through the pressure ridges they will burn up to 8,000 calories a day. Teamwork will be everything if they are to be successful. The team will be led by Felicity Aston MBE , record setting polar explorer. Even as it disappears, there is much detail we still do not know about this unique environment. The B.I.G team will be collecting data for several critical research studies throughout the expedition in collaboration with key scientific experts. The data collected will be studied for the presence of Black Carbon, Microplastics also Physical and Psychology DRiFT, Arctic Cloud formations and snow observations. Best of luck Edel, what an amazing adventure! Follow The B.I.G Team and Edel’s own adventure log at the links below

Christmas Traditions

I get one of my friends who does not come too often (so kids could not recognize) coming over dressed up as Santa every year to give small presents to the kids on 24th during the dinner and promise presents under the tree next morning if they are good. Or to manage their expectation depending on the brief from parents. Done for last 14 years.

The adults saying they will open one present each late on Christmas Eve and then opening everything within 5mins.

Exchanging gifts after dinner.

Giving presents on Christmas Eve.

Start day with Christmas sea swim followed by Christmas dinner at home with elderly mother, and visits to relations - copious quantities of Christmas movies and biscuits!!

Arguing.

Turkey-Ham and all the trimmings, including brussels sprouts!

Ardmac cycle for hope €68,500 raised for pieta

Cycle for Hope was a great success once again this year. We raised funds through our corporate and individual donations. A very big thank you especially to you, who reached out to contacts and suppliers and got them to participate and sponsor us for the day. This is where most of our donations came from. Their sponsorship and social media campaigns, linked with ours boosted our ratings and our reach significantly. Overall it meant that a great deal of our impact was made before the Cycle even started on the day. Well done to everyone who cycled, marshalled, organised, participated and volunteered on the day, you made it all happen, thank you.

“My name is Jerrick, I am an Architectural Technologist reporting in Craigavon office. I work with the wonderful people from the Engineering Department’s Design team. I play drums with my all-Filipino band based here in Northern Ireland. I’m also a drone enthusiast and love editing them for personal use. “I’m Shane, Group Architectural Manager with Ardmac. I really enjoy working with the wide range of individuals across the team. With my role there is a lot of interfacing with the various departments which gives me a great opportunity to meet the broader team of people from all corners of the company. What I love most about Ardmac is the Culture and the desire as a company to always look to improve and do better. We have the backing from the top down to always look to keep ahead of the curve in terms of our approach to delivering all our projects. Outside of work I am very busy with my children one of which is 7month old Ollie who is wrecking the house already and the other, Bea, who is 2 years and 3 months and never takes a breath to stop talking. I did like golfing in my spare time before they came along and am hoping I can get back out there again soon.” “I’m Ciaran, Pharma Architectural Manager with Ardmac. My role is to ensure we have the right structures and resources in place to deliver the Architectural Design of our Pharma, Design & Build and Modular projects for our clients. I enjoy seeing team members develop their skills and produce new, innovative ways to deliver our projects. I also enjoy the construction stage of projects, where we see our designs materialise on site, and the knowledge and learnings we pick up from this stage of the project and bring to the next one. Lastly I enjoy knowing that we are involved in some of the largest projects in the country, employed by industry leaders and working along side other leading contractors who are always striving to embrace the latest technologies and improve how we collectively deliver projects.”

“I’m Peter Jardine, a Senior Architectural Technologist here at Ardmac. I have worked in several different locations throughout Europe and currently based in Newcastle Upon Tyne, UK Heading up the Architectural Design for Ardmac’s venture into Battery Production Plants. I am from Banbridge, Co. Down but as I am newly married, spend most rotations in Cardiff, South Wales with the new Welsh half of my family. In my free time I like to play and (mainly!) watch football and tennis and enjoy exploring as much of the surrounding area as possible in all the locations I get sent working with Ardmac. For me, the best parts of working with Ardmac are the new challenges involved with each different project, the team spirit and the ability to grow and progress in your field. The help and support from all sectors of the company is second to none.”

Take a different approach to Gratitude Gratitude - it can feel a bit cheesy, confined to the realm of motivational posters and journals. But if we get to the core of it, gratitude is quite different. Gratitude is radical. In a mere moment, it can shock us out of seeing ourselves: as separate, disconnected individuals who exist alone in the world. Gratitude awakens you to the truth that you are embedded within a web of connections. In realizing the ways that others have contributed to your life, it becomes shockingly and immediately obvious: you are a part of it all, you are a beneficiary of goodwill, you are shaped by countless kind acts. Gratitude is the superhighway to connection with yourself and connection with others, self acceptance and community.

34

Christmas 2022

This year we asked the Ardmac community to share who or what they were grateful this year. We got some great responses and hung them on the Swords Dublin Office Christmas Tree. Check out the Tree for many more and please continue to add more.

35

I am grateful for...

Haydn Devoy, he is like the office welcome wagon. Makes people feel comfortable with his friendly approach. To the VIE 01 Project team for their hard work throughout the year! Fantastic team spirit. Aisling Kelly - thanks for constantly keeping the spirit in the office high and always being in a good mood. To the Melies 001 project team for delivering an excellent project in tough conditions. To the Battery team, we have formed a new team this year and its great to be part of it. Fergus Nugent - thanks for all the Cycle for Hope support - the marketing team. Thanks Jason Casey for rounding up so much corporate sponsorship for Cycle for Hope - the marketing team.

The entire Ardmac Team - Magic, and my supporting family (long suffering as they are). I am grateful to have work colleagues like Brendan, Marina and Frank, who are friends when you need it most. I am truly grateful for work friendships. They have unknowingly lifted my spirts when it was really needed. I am grateful for the hybrid working policy. It has reduced certain stresses immensely and re- invigored an appreciation for the office environment and culture. Many thanks Marina for organising flights, hotels, cars etc. You do an excellent job ! Michelle Magee, you have done a cracking job keeping us all fed, watered and organised throughout the year, many thanks!

36

Christmas 2022

Thanks Karen O’Hara for inspiring us all year! Thanks Dermot McKenna for always taking the time to explain the more technical side of things. Thanks Michael Quinn for always being so approachable and bringing a positive attitude to the office. Grateful for the laughs Brendan Prenty brings to the office. Jamie Fitzsimons - for being so helpful no matter how stupid my IT Question is Andrew Campbell & Alan O’Mahony. Daryl O’Reilly - brightening my day I would be unable to pick out a small number of colleagues for special mention, but it is fair to say that I would be very grateful for the culture of collaboration and respect that is engendered in Ardmac, and I find that that is evident on a daily basis through dealings with manager, senior management, and all team colleagues.

Grateful for Emma Hoey in HR, the amount of behind the scenes work that she carries out for all of us here in Ardmac is phenomenal! Thank you Emma! The team in accounts - Martina, Joan, Alicia, Deirdre & Ashley - without them processing & paying the bills I don’t know what we would do. Thank you team. I’m grateful to Alan Coakley for his decisiveness and guidance throughout the year. Fabrizio! Thanks for all your recent tech support with the cameras. Patrick Matthews - for always boosting my mood with a cheerful Hello. David McGrath thanks for being so helpful and patient. Conor Sweeney - for his great IT support (and dumb question support). Hilary Moloney - For being a very supportive team leader.

37

I am grateful for...

Joan Dunne - always gets the job done... Alicia Carolan - keeps those invoice trails ticking! Martina Purcell - will do whatever she can to get a customer / client / subbie paid. Deirdre Kelly - works very hard to get payments set up and released to keep our customer base happy! Ashley Lynch - only new to the accounts team but is learning quick and fast! David Kavanagh & Pearse McCartan - between them they help me keep Safety First at the top of my list! Yvonne O’Sullivan - always has an open door and guidance to give when it’s looked for. Michelle O’Brien - always there to get a PO generated as fast as is possible in a minefield of Brexit chaos! Not to mention a dab hand with her creative skills!

The Ardmac zip up jackets! I am thankful to have a great team who are open, trusting and committed. Happy Christmas to you and your families! Flexible work conditions! A beautifully decorated office Working with great people who I can now call friends. The chats with the girls while out on the lunchtime walk. To Lana Alkhatatneh for all that she has done to support Melies & RDD Vienna this year. It is a pleasure to work with her. To Tadhg Curran for the hardwork and dedication over the last year. To Lauren O’Shea for care and empathy she shows to our operatives on site, always putting their safety as the main priority.

38

Christmas 2022

To Ciaran McMahon for supporting us on the recent ICE Award Submission. To Taine for all the support & amazing graphics during the year, you have really taken our presentations to the next level that has without doubt helped us secure more projects. To Stefan Hopwood for making the effort to be part of the team from the outset and for bringing a great energy to everything he does. The IT team - Chris, Caroline, Jamie & Conor - always on hand to help solve a technical problem. Be lost without them!! Hugh Ward - still only new but a total pleasure to work with! Our friendly office staff, Coffee Machine And Lunch crew!! The Board - working away at keeping us all ticking and learning, that in turn is what makes Ardmac ‘Build Better’.

To Vincent Ormonde for supporting the close out of project Melies even when busy with other projects. To Sahan Deva for putting in the effort to improve her design skills over the year while working on RDD Vienna, her positive attitude is great. To Paddy Mooney for juggling multiple projects at once. To Liana Karachalia for the excellent job completing the RDD schedule and maintaining it throughout the project. To Jason Casey for all the support and guidance throughout the year Marina and Michele for dealing with us and being always there when we need help!
