Shawn Anderson in the record book OnSeptember19,HawkesburyHawksheadcoachShawnAndersonsetanewfranchise record with his 217th game behind the Hawks’ bench, thus surpassing Yvan Joly as the longest lasting head coach. Joly coached the Hawks in the 1980’s and came back
behind the bench in 1993-1995. Puce would later find success as the head coach of the Saint-Jérôme Panthères (2004-2007), winning the League championship, reaching the Fred Page Cup, but losing in the end an emotional match against the Pembroke Lumber Kings. Flash forward, Shawn Anderson took over the team in 2010 and his first game was against the same Lumber Kings, on November 5. Since that game, the Hawks had some rough patches, including an abysmal 2010-2011 season with only 11 wins on record. After making the playoffs in 2012 after a 4-year drought, the Hawks fell back to a forgettable effort last season. This year, Anderson and his crew brought a lot of new players to the dance and the Hawks are back in action with a renewed spirit and attitude. The team is currently in third place with 6 wins out of 12 games. (SL)
