Cosmetology Career Information

*This Pathway is Offered at Hoosier Hills, but is NOT a part of the Next Level Programs of Study (NLPS) Cosmetology I Cosmetology II Cosmetology I & II

The cosmetology program is devoted to learning and mastering basic skills for treating the hair, scalp, face, and nails. In performing these skills, students are taught the importance of clean, orderly, and systematic habits of workmanship. They receive professional training and learn techniques required for lasting success in the beauty industry. In cooperation with the Indiana Cosmetology Academy, students enrolled in the cosmetology program at Hoosier Hills follow the curriculum prescribed by the Indiana State Board of Beauty Culture. Areas covered include hair cutting, coloring, perming, facials, makeup, nails, personal grooming, sanitation, and chemistry.

Dual Credit is offered through Vincennes University.

Certification The course is offered offsite at the Indiana Cosmetology Academy. The program prepares students to take the Indiana State Board of Beauty Culture Exam. Students can save $14,000 in training costs because they only pay $600 for the vocational cosmetology training. In order to receive a license to practice in Indiana, students must pass the exam. Leadership Opportunities Students in the cosmetology program have the opportunity to compete for prizes and scholarships in competitions sponsored by SkillsUSA and the National Cosmetology Association (NCA). Recreation & Mobile Equipment Career Information

*This Pathway is Offered at Hoosier Hills, but is NOT a part of the Next Level Programs of Study (NLPS)

Recreational & Mobile Equipment This course introduces students to fundamental concepts in the internal workings and operations of engines. Training will cover hydraulics, cooling and electrical systems, and other engine components. Students will explore the interrelatedness of these systems by examining and identifying the commonalities and differences between the various engines that power recreational and mobile equipment. Dual Credit is offered through Ivy Tech. This is a year-long course.
