William (Bill) Gilsdorf, of North Glengarry, has been honoured by the Ontario Heritage Trust, which has presented the long-time volunteer with a lifetime achievement award. Gilsdorf was nominated by the township for the distinction that was formally announced February 14. Since the late-1980s, he has worked diligently at the Glengarry Pioneer Museum to improve the quality of programming and address the site’s financial sustainability. He has done on-site conservation and general upkeep on several of the museum’s heritage buildings, while also providing interpretation of pioneer life and living historic trades. He has also served on the Board of the Glengarry Historical Society, among other local charitable organizations.
