Advanced Learner Loans
> Aged 19 or over? > Returning to education? > Need qualifications for work or business? > Want to learn a new skill or do a refresher course? If you are planning to study at Level 3, 4, 5 or 6 and you are aged 19 or over (on the first day of your course) you may qualify for an Advanced Learner Loan to help pay for your course fees. This government loan is easy to apply for, your household income is not taken into account and there is no credit check. Plus, you will not have to pay anything back until your income is over £25,000 a year. The loan pays for your qualification and is paid directly to us, so you will not have to worry about sorting payment out. It is a great way to get a qualification that you may not have previously been able to afford.
If you take out an Advanced Learner Loan to fund an Access to Higher Education (HE) Diploma, then go on to complete a Higher Education course, you may be eligible to have the balance of your Advanced Learner Loan written off. However, if you do not complete either course, you will not be eligible to have the balance written off and will need to repay your loan in full. Note: Advanced Learner Loans do not cover Degrees or other forms of HE such as HNCs or HNDs. For HE funding information visit: www.gov.uk/studentfinance We encourage students to seek independent financial advice from Money Helper at: www.moneyhelper.org.uk More information about Advanced Learner Loans can be found at: www.gov.uk/advanced-learner-loan
