creativity, insight, &market-supported reasoning to forecast impact on their profession. Marc Isdaner and Evan Zweben discussed the industrial and office markets in the region. Mayor Mayer of Gloucester Township updated us on the many residential and commercial developments going on in the area, including the substantial outlet shopping center being built. NJ State Real Estate Board President Joseph Palumbo, SRA, discussed current issues and information pertaining to being an appraiser today. This included what’s coming for NJ appraisers in 2015 and beyond, nationally and locally including pending legislation as well as legislation that has failed. On November 21, we hosted what has become our annual Fall offering of the Business Practices and Ethics course, instructed by Mary Fox, MAI . Appraisal Institute designated members and candidates must take once every five years, so we try to make it as convenient as possible…and feed you a nice lunch, too! This course addressed topics that were not included in the previous version, such as the Guide Notes to Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice. Numerous Q&As address real-life, up-to-date matters that appraisers encounter in various assignments, including mortgage lending, litigation, property tax appeal, and many more. The course contained relevant and much-needed information for professional appraisers. On December 5, we finished up a busy education year with our regular offering of the National Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice 7-hour Update course. This was taught by one of our favorite instructors, Val Pasquarella, Jr., SRA . An appraiser must successfully complete the 7-hour USPAP Update Course every two years to meet the USPAP continuing education requirement. Twenty-two people took advantage of this opportunity to complete their requirement before ringing in the new year. We will offer it at least twice in 2015. Our first event of 2015 is the Installation of Officers at Terra Nova in Sewell on January 15th. Soon after that, we will offer many classes, seminars, and dinner meetings.
