BUSY BAND OF BIBLE BOOSTERS
Want to Broadcast Permission for establishment of an atheist broad casting station in New York City, or vicinity, high- powered enough to send its message to all parts of the United States, is being sought by the American Associa tion of Atheism. Sweet Souls Here we have a sample of the tolerant (? ) spirit manifested in the atheistic papers: “What has caused more trouble and more mental conflicts followed by physical ones, than religion? The answer is nothing, for it has always been and is now, the supreme social evil, corrupting and perverting men’s minds, and making of them fools, fiends, asses, numskulls, hypocrites, tyrants, and murderers.” Now read Psa. 19:7-11! —o— Hume in a Hole It is related of David Hume that, coming home one night, he fell into a bog, and entreated an old lady who happened to be passing by to help him out. She had known David all her life and agreed to assist him upon one condition; namely, that he should say the Lord’s Prayer. The story goes that the celebrated Scotch doubter did repeat the prayer with considerable unction, what ever may have been the motives back of its use. And there come times in the life of the stoutest atheist when he is compelled by an inner urge to lift his despairing cry to the God whom he has flouted. —o— Nothing to Offer The literature of the 4-A’s defines the object of the association in these words: “In prosecuting its work, which shall be purely destructive.” In closing the same paragraph it says: “Specializing in mental reconstruction, the society shall contribute to the building of a better civilization by operating as a wrecking company, leaving to others the designing and establishing of the new order.” Remember that wreckage, and nothing but ruin, is the avowed purpose of this movement. It seeks only to destroy the peace of society. It has nothing constructive to offer. —o— A Boy and a Testament A boy of a Roman Catholic family read the Gospels and received his School-Bag New Testament. But he always made trouble at the weekly meetings of the League members. It was one piece of mischief after another. Sometimes he had to be put out of the church building for misbehavior. Then he became very ill with appen dicitis, and was taken to the hospital for an operation.

After the operation he became worse instead of better and was operated on again. One of the League workers went to see him and found him very, very weak, scarcely able to speak aloud, but with a little New Testament at his bedside. The other children prayed earnestly for his recovery. Slowly the days went by, and very slowly he regained his strength. One night he was able to come to the League members’ meeting again. This time he walked down the aisle and shook the hand of the secretary. This time there was no mischief. When the time came for prayer he thanked God for saving his life. We had thought that all efforts had been wasted on that boy—that the Gospels and Testament did not do him any good. But we were mistaken. God’s Word does not return to Him void; the time came when that Word bore fruit and a precious life was united, as we believe, to Jesus Christ. What are the Christian people of your community doing to lead the boys and girls to Christ? What about the multitudes that are scattered abroad as sheep without a shepherd, for whom no one except Christ seems to care? Will you, for Christ’s sake, do what you can to bring the saving message to them? The harvest truly is plenteous, but the laborers are few. Perhaps this is God’s call to you. Have you organized The School Bag Gospel League in your community?
