The healthcare service value chain can be categorised according to two main activities: Primary activities: Encompass activities like admission, care, discharge, marketing and sales, and services Support activities: • Hospital administration - policy direction, financial planning, and resource development planning • Information services - the first physical contact point between patients and hospitals for hospital information, customer service, billing, and medical records • Diagnostic and therapeutic services - the activity to determine the causes of diseases, conduct clinical trials, and administer emergency services. It also encompasses hospital-related services such as rehabilitation medicine, physical therapy, social service, and pharmacy • Hospital support services - this pertains to property and central supply, purchasing and procurement, security services, housekeeping, and maintenance
