One way to state the purpose of life: Seek and allow God’s continuing creation in your heart, and through your life, in the world. God’s continuing creation in us develops hearts of love. God’s continuing creation through our lives in the world produces Shalom: justice, peace, “rightness”, health. The theological term for “God’s continuing creation” is grace. The first work of grace that we should seek is forgiveness. The world is filled with tools that God uses for continued creation. Our work is to put these tools in our lives. The theological term for these tools is Means of Grace. Three of the most powerful, useful means of grace are prayer, the Bible and the Church.
