Jesus lived our life to show us how it can be done. At his baptism the Holy Spirit came to him. Throughout the rest of his life he made time in prayer a priority in his very busy, very draining days. Through his time in prayer Jesus opened himself to the Holy Spirit’s work of grace which he, Jesus, emptied, needed in order to live the life his Father called him to. Jesus needed prayer in his life. So do we. So do I. Every other means of grace can come to us through prayer. Every other means of grace benefits from being combined with prayer. Because Jesus made ample time for prayer, we know that he also made room, sought out and allowed, every other means of grace. So can we.
