Our people Our 4,410 academic and professional services staff are Manchester Metropolitan’s greatest asset. They are engaged, motivated and customer focused to deliver research and knowledge exchange with real impact and to provide our students with the best possible learning experience, through our practice and research-led teaching. Teaching excellence Student success is at the heart of our mission. Through our distinctive partnership approach, we provide outstanding education and an exceptional student experience. We understand that our undergraduate education has the most powerful impact when we deliver it through collaborations with the network of partnerships and relationships that are at the centre of our identity as a modern metropolitan university. Our 2,445 dedicated academic staff are experienced professionals, committed to excellence and innovation in teaching. Our high-quality learning and teaching environment delivers excellent outcomes in terms of student results and careers, with student course satisfaction consistently delivering ratings in the mid-80s%. The University has high employment outcomes, with 66.5% of our graduates in professional employment and/or graduate-level study six months after graduation, as reported in the national Destinations of Leavers from Higher Education (DLHE) survey. Valuing our people Manchester Metropolitan is widely recognised for excellent staff support and development and was named among Britain’s Top Employers in 2017 for the second year running by the Top Employers Institute. This builds on last year’s double achievements of securing International Gold Champion for Investors in People and being the first university (and among the very first organisations worldwide) to be recognised under the new 6th generation Investors in People standard. Excellence in diversity Our commitment and ground-breaking approach to diversity was recognised at the Excellence in Diversity Awards 2016, where we won the Diverse Company Award for Education. The prestigious awards recognise employers who motivate, inspire and create equal opportunities for their employees. Manchester Metropolitan is also proud to be a Stonewall Champion and has a growing LGBT community. We have advanced our commitment to gender equality through the Athena SWAN Charter, and launched a Women’s Network on International Women’s Day to provide support and networking opportunities for women across all staff groups. We also run women-only awareness sessions in pursuit of our goal to increase the number of female professors at the University.
