2024 TAX INCREASE SET FOR CASSELMAN

Capital costs - such as grants, development charges, new debts, and capital expenses - will jump 234.8 per cent ($2,104,230) to $3,000,304 in 2024, an increase caused by several major capital projects being deferred to the new year,

according to Sébastien Dion, deputy clerk for Casselman. The municipality’s reserves are expec- ted to shrink by more than 30 per cent to $198,832. The projected surplus at the beginning of the year is $2,819,560 and the sur- plus at the end of the year is predicted to be $2,497,394 with a depreciation of $1,789,246.

The Casselman Food Bank collected over 2,500 kilograms (6,000 pounds) of non-perishable goods, $7,000 and many toys to help those in need better feed themselves and enjoy this holiday season. On Saturday and Sunday, December 9 and 10, the CCS Food Bank (Casselman, Chrysler, St Albert) hosted their 2023 Food Drive campaign alongside local social clubs, Casselman Firemen, Ontario Provincial Police, volunteers and businesses. “I would like to thank everyone for your food, toys, and monetary contributions,” said Leo Gagnon, organizer of the event.
