AN IMPORTANT DAILY REMINDER:
The Two Reasons I Wake up Each Day Excited to Go to Work N ow that we are officially midway through the year, I’d like to spend some time reflecting on all that has happened since the start of 2019. While I’ve been in the business of helping clients with their personal injury and disability claims for quite some time now, my passion for my job continues to grow with each passing year. There are ample reasons why I decided to go into this field in the first place, but the two that help me wake up in the morning excited to go to work are my hard-working office teammates and the great clients I have the pleasure to serve.
“While the members of my team certainly make each and every day special, nothing is more rewarding than when we work together to change a client’s life for the better.”
that person and offer support. In my experience at this firm, I’ve discovered that one employee’s success is emblematic of the whole team’s success. We win as a team, and we lose as a team, and no matter what happens, at the end of the day we’ll always remain a team that sticks together. While the members of my team certainly make each and every day special, nothing is more rewarding than when we work together to change a client’s life for the better. The vast majority of our clients are homeless; they often don’t know where they will sleep each night or when they will eat their next meal. We focus on taking those clients and giving them a stable income every month so they can, at the very least, fulfill their basic necessities: a place to live and a fridge full of food. We work hard to drastically change their lives — to make each day easier, happier, more comfortable, and survivable. Is there a better reason to get up each morning than knowing that you’re going to alter someone’s life for the better? I don’t think so.
Having a close-knit team is vital to a successful law firm. You’ll probably dub me biased, but the people with whom I share an office are the best around. In fact, the best part of my day-to- day routine is getting into the office early in the morning and greeting all my employees one by one. I’ll ask about how they spent their time outside of work the day before or about they spent time with their families. Just having these short but informative interactions with each staff member and hearing about their lives and the events they have going on outside of work is the highlight of my day. It starts my morning off with a fresh outlook and helps me feel like more than just their boss — it makes me feel like a friend or family member. At Jorgensen Law, our team is like one big family, and, when someone is celebrating a new engagement or new baby, we all celebrate as one big family. Similarly, when someone is going through a hard time, we can all rally around to comfort
