A MESSAGE FROM HEAD OF YEAR 7

This week we have been eagerly looking forward to Sports Day. In addition to the traditional athletic events, the inclusion of fun ‘amateur’ events such as the skipping race and the egg and spoon race ensure that everybody has the opportunity to get involved regardless of athletic prowess. As ever, the emphasis has been on participation as every student who enters an event gains points for their house.

Congratulations to 7FLE, 7EDA and 7EST who have surged forward in this week’s housepoint race. Keep up the good work!

On Thursday we have a Drop Down Day where we suspend the usual school timetable for the day. Year 7 will be taking part in a cross curricular ‘Smoothie Project’ which will combine facets from a variety of subjects along with group skills to plan and market a Smoothie. I am looking forward to seeing what the students produce. The afternoon session will look at strategies to help with self-confidence.

BOOK OF THE MONTH

Murder Most Unladylike by Robin Stevens Murder Most Unladylike is about two girls - Daisy Wells and Hazel Wong - who attend Deepdean School for girls and create their own detective agency. They haven’t had any real crimes to solve, but suddenly Hazel finds their teacher, Miss Bell, dead. However when they return the body has disappeared. It’s up to them to solve this case and prove that it actually happened. If you have read books like A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder or Murder Mysteries, then you will enjoy reading this because it is thrilling and also slightly gory. Personally, I really like this book because it is very gripping and gets your brain thinking about who the murderer is.
