Their bestsellers are the apple frit- ter and their selection of breads. Enthusiastically and humbly, Dave said “It’s been an unbeliev- able first 6 months and we look forward to working with and serv- ing the community for many years to come”. Lorsque Dave et Melodie Sor- rell d’Orléans ont fait réparer leur voiture à Embrun en mars dernier (2014), ils n’ont jamais pensé que leur vie allait changer. En atten- dant leur voiture, les deux se sont promenés sur la rue Notre-Dame et ont remarqué la boulangerie va- cante. Le père de Dave, ancien pro- priétaire de boulangeries à Carp et Stitsville, envisageait d’ouvrir une autre boulangerie, mais ne trou- vait pas l’endroit idéal, mais le tout a changé lorsque Dave et Mel- odie ont remarqué la boulangerie fermée sur la rue Notre-Dame. À l’époque, Dave travaillait comme technicien de mainte- nance pour les propriétés Minto et Bill jouissait de sa retraite. En quelques jours, ils ont mis un plan d’affaires en place et pour les 6 prochains mois, ils ont tra- vaillé avec la municipalité de Rus- sell pour transformer un endroit vacant en ce qu’il est devenu aujourd’hui.
Depuis son ouverture le 2 août 2014, leur personnel a grossi de quatre employés, qui compre- nait Dave et Bill, à 11 employés - 6 à temps plein et cinq à temps partiel. Le frère de Dave, un bou- langer, a même déménagé dans la région pour se rapprocher de la boulangerie. Ils ont élargi leur espace de comptoir; construit sur mesure des étagères pour leur sé- lection de beignes impressionnant ainsi qu’une étagère pour leurs pains. Il vous faut arriver de bonne heure si vous voulez une place à l’heure du diner! Leurs variétés de produits est en
constante évolution et leur vaste menu qui incluent 20 types de pains frais, un menu léger pour le diner, une vitrine remplie d’une variété de gâteaux, des beignes de toutes sortes, des pâtisseries et biscuits sauront sûrement vous régaler. Ils fournissent également des services de traiteur. Avec enthousiasme et humilité, Dave nous partage : « Les 6 der- niers mois ont été incroyables et nous sommes impatients de tra- vailler et de servir la communauté pendant de nombreuses années à venir ».
When Dave and Melodie Sor- rell of Orleans brought their car for repairs in Embrun in March of last year (2014), the last thing they expected was that their lives were about to change. While wait- ing for their car, the two walked Notre-Dame Street and noticed the vacant bakery. Dave’s father, Bill Sorrell, the former owner of the Carp and Stitsville Bakeries, had been considering opening an- other bakery since selling the oth- er two but hadn’t found the per- fect location. That is, until Dave and Melodie stumbled upon the closed bakery on Notre-Dame. At the time, Dave was working as a maintenance technician for Minto Properties and Bill was enjoying retirement. Within a matter of days of walking past the vacant bakery, they put a business plan in place and for the next 6 months, they worked with the Township to transform the location into what it is today. Since opening on the 2nd of Au- gust, they grew in staff from 4 em- ployees, which included Dave and Bill to 11 employees – 6 full-time and 5 part-time. Dave’s brother, a baker, even moved to the area to be closer to the bakery. They’ve expanded their counter space; custom built a display for their impressive selection of donuts as well as a custom made stand for their breads. There is hardly a lunch hour where the 29-seat restaurant isn’t full. Some of the staples on their ever-changing and
