Woodco Renewable Energy delivers renewable energy projects integrating smart technologies with advanced engineering and creative design. Judges were impressed by the company’s application of lean construction and operational methodologies to reduce waste, improve efficiency and deliver long-term performance. Consistently completing projects on time, on budget and to a high quality, its success is built on robust project management systems, transparent communication with stakeholders and rigorous quality assurance processes. Woodco brings together experienced engineers, project managers and renewable energy specialists who share a passion for sustainable solutions. Continually investing in training and professional development keeps its team at the forefront of emerging technologies and equipped to deliver innovative renewable energy projects that meet the needs of today and tomorrow. Among recent projects are the delivery of three biomass heating systems at Camphill communities in Co Tipperary, and a 500kW wood chip biomass boiler to heat the accommodation and swimming pool at Roganstown Hotel in Co Dublin. Working closely with clients to design and deliver clean energy solutions that reduce carbon footprint, Woodco supports local communities by creating opportunities, sharing knowledge and contributing to regional growth.
Simon Hodgson’s approach to plumbing and heating is built on detail, accountability and a commitment to getting systems working exactly as designed - not just on paper, but in real-world operation. With over 20 years’ experience across domestic and commercial projects, Simon specialises in energy-efficient heating system design, technical problem-solving and delivering installations that perform to a high standard. He combines technical research with practical on-site experience to ensure systems run reliably, efficiently and cleanly. A strong believer that aesthetics matter as much as performance, Simon places emphasis on layout, accessibility, pipe routing and long-term serviceability. His work reflects a philosophy of doing things properly, even when it takes more time or deeper thinking to get right. Recent commercial installations include 12 high-end guest rooms in Clane, a bivalent heating system in an 11,500sqft residence in Johnstown and a boosted potable water and high-pressure wash-down system, combined with a rainwater- harvested sprinkler network, at Ballymaglassan Stud Farm. Alongside day-to-day installation work, Simon continues to advance his knowledge through manufacturer training, industry courses and ongoing technical research. He has also written a paper on Ireland’s Heat Pump Retrofit Strategy, focusing on a practical approach to upgrading existing heating systems.
