A milestone year for Murphy & Kelly (Thomastown) Ltd has included the mechanical contractor celebrating 40 years in business and picking up another accolade at Ireland’s Plumbing & Heating Awards. A private company founded in 1985, Murphy & Kelly specialises in the supply and installation of heating, plumbing, ventilation, air conditioning, renewable energy, oil and gas systems. Consistently achieving recognition for its excellence at Ireland’s Plumbing & Heating Awards, the company was most recently awarded highly commended Large Contractor of the Year at this year’s awards held in the Crowne Plaza Blanchardstown on November 7. Now employing a team of over 100, Murphy & Kelly is led by co-founder
Denis Kelly, alongside his son Steven Kelly and nephew Dean Kelly. Co- founder Eamonn Murphy retired in 2011. Bringing a wealth of experience in the mechanical trade, Denis, Steven and Dean oversee all projects, managing a team of trusted subcontractors to ensure they are completed efficiently to the highest standard. The business operates three crews spanning Dublin, Cork and Thomastown. Delivering successful projects across private and public sectors, Murphy & Kelly partners with leading Irish contractors including John Sisk & Son, Duggan Brothers, JJ Rhatigan, Mythen Construction, Townmore Construction and Tom O’Brien Construction. “We are thrilled to be celebrating 40 years of trading in 2025,” says Steven.
“While the last four decades have not been without their challenges, Murphy & Kelly has emerged stronger as a result. “The business is thriving, and our mechanical services department has expanded in recent years alongside our ventilation, ventilation management and fabrication workshop operations. We’ve also put significant investment into machinery and technology including modern CNC plasma cutters.” Attributing the success of the business to its loyal staff, high-quality work and strong repeat business, Steven also cites its long-term partnerships with valued subcontractors and suppliers. The business also supports its local community as a significant employer, and proudly backing Thomastown GAA and Thomastown United Soccer Club.
