The holiday season is one of my favorite times of the year! It offers opportunities to spend time with my loved ones and appreciate what I have. It’s also the time when we carry out our long-standing family traditions. Most families have some they cherish every year during the holidays, and the team at Fyzical Jacksonville is no different. As we close in on the holiday season, we thought it would be fun to share some of our favorite family traditions with you. FYZICAL THANKSGIVING TRADITIONS One of my favorite family traditions is completing an entire jigsaw puzzle during the Thanksgiving holiday. My family is pretty big, so when we get together every year, we try to incorporate activities that include everyone. Between 25 and 30 family members travel from New York, Connecticut, and California, so the puzzle gives everyone a chance to feel involved in the celebration. The puzzle is perfect for all ages, as many of them have fun colors and sections that are a little easier to handle. They’re usually 1,000-piece puzzles, so in between relaxing at the beach or running in the Turkey Trot, everyone has a chance to participate in the family puzzle. THANKSGIVING SPECIAL HOURS Open Sunday, Nov. 24: 8 a.m.–3 p.m. Regular Hours Monday–Tuesday, Nov. 25–26: 8 a.m.–7 p.m. Open Wednesday, Nov. 27: 7 a.m.–4 p.m. Closed Thursday–Friday, Nov. 28–29

While we love to spend time with our big family, Luize and her family prefer to get away from all the hectic and stressful holiday festivities. They typically eat a meal together and share what they’re most thankful for from the year. Growing up, Wendy loved celebrating the holidays with her family in Massachusetts. Rain, hail, or shine, nothing would prevent her dad from setting up the family’s minigolf course! Her dad would spend the entire afternoon of Thanksgiving organizing the course. It was a fun competition that she still fondly remembers to this day. When Kelly was young, she loved gathering with all her cousins and Grandpa early in the day to watch the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade. Through the course of the parade, the house would fill with delicious smells from the kitchen. Now that she’s a little older, she’s the best taste tester in the entire family! Jerica’s favorite Thanksgiving memory is waking up in the early morning of Black Friday to go shopping with her family. These days, she loves to have a cup of coffee while she watches the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade with her husband. Afterward, they have a nice lunch with

one family and then head to the other family for Thanksgiving dinner.

Caitlyn’s aunt is, hands down, the best vegan Thanksgiving chef there is. Her main course consists of tofurkey and lots of veggies. While Caitlyn loves the dinner, her favorite part is her aunt’s desserts! Carrigan puts the “giving” in Thanksgiving because she and her family sponsor a family overseas. Her best memory of this tradition is when they helped a resident surgeon in the Air Force. Carrigan had been mailing the surgeon regularly, and Carrigan surprised her with boxes of magazines, nail polish, lotion, and spices. The surgeon then sent Carrigan a photo of them; she made the surgical pre-op area into a Thanksgiving table! Additionally, Carrigan’s Thanksgiving would not be complete without scanning the paper for the best Black Friday deals. Thanksgiving traditions will your family be participating in?
