Wildcats Captain Jessica Joubarne de- scribed the day’s results as “tough games” that pushed the RDHS varsity girls to the limits of their strengths. Joubarne credited the team’s forwards with strong support of the full and half backs. “We also tried some new things,” said Jou- barne, “and they worked really well.” The Wildcats take a short break now and prepare for the Ontario Federation of Sec- ondary School Athletics Association (OF- SAA) championships in Waterloo June 3 to 5. Joubarne and the other Wildcats have no information at present on what they might be facing as opposition in Waterloo. She said the key to their strategy now is to keep themselves together psychologically as a team. “We’re playing a lot of team practice games to help us bond.”

ROCKLAND | The Wildcats varsity girls are on the road toWaterloo. Rockland District High School captured the Eastern Ontario Secondary School Ath- letics Association (EOSSAA) girls rugby title again after the Wildcats dropped the oppo- sition when they hosted the annual cham- pionships May 21. RDHS shut down Lasalle from Kingston 21-0 in the semi-final match. That earned them a showdown with South Grenville for the EOSSAA title. The Wildcats shredded South Grenville 22-5. “Probably the best (matches) we’ve played all season,” said Coach Bill Foster. “The best competition at EOSSAA I’ve seen in the past eight years.”
