THE K I N G ’S B U S I N E S S Lord, as we seek to walk in fellowship w ith Him. If our m ind is set on things above, we shall be thoughtful, and watchful, and fear lest we c^use others to stumble, and if careless, even in the least, we shall grieve. To detect sin in its very beginning is a proof of spiritual growth. God’s servant Daniel was so sp iritual am idst all his tria ls and diffi culties th a t his enemies said, “We shall not find any occasion against th is Dan iel, except we find it against him con cerning th e law of his God” (Dan. 6:4, 5). W h at a testimony. May we seek to be thui-s spiritually minded, though it leads to suffering and persecution, as in the case of Daniel.

1248 of life. Our speaking is to be w ith grace (Col. 4 :6 ). We are to walk in wisdom toward them th a t are w ithout. When bringing the tru th before the unsaved it must be w ith deep hum ility of heart, remembering th a t we were once in th eir sad state. N either must we forget the exhortation to be courteous (1 Pet. 3: 8). While we seek, by God’s grace, to be faith fu l to wandering saints, and to those far off from God, we m ust be m indful to do all in th e sp irit of meek ness. Graciousness of manner and con sideration for others are m arks of spir ituality. We shall be more like qur beloved

Plain Teachings About tke Spirit His Indwelling, Baptism and Sealing. From New Book, “Grace”, by Rev. Lewis Sperry Chafer Indwelling

Baptism The Christian has been so vitally united to Christ by the baptism w ith (he Spirit th a t he is said to be “ in Christ,” and Christ is said to be “in ” the believer. According to the Scrip tures, th ere is no other meaning to the baptism .w ith the Spirit than th is (1 Cor. 1 2 :13 ). Thus, being placed by th e Spirit in organic union .with Christ, the believer is related to Christ as the branch is to the vine, or as a member of th e human body is to its- living head. Because of th is most vital union to Christ through th e baptism w ith the Spirit, the believer is said to be a par ta k er in all th a t Christ is, all th a t Christ has done, and all th a t Christ Will ever do. This is a lim itless theme since it opens before one the eternal realities of an unchangeable identification with Christ.

fact th a t th e Spirit of God sv indwells every believer y be verified from th e Word G.od (John 7,: 37-39; Rom.

5 :5 ; 8 :9 ; 1 Cor. 2 :12 ; 6:19; 1 John 3 :2 4 ). It is also clearly revealed th a t the Spirit has come to “ abide” in the h ea rt He has once entered. This abid ing presence of the Spirit is in answer to the prayer of, the Son of God, which prayer cannot be unanswered. “And I will pray the F ath er, and he shall give you ano ther Com forter, “th a t he may abide w ith you forever” (John 14 :16 ). The Christian may “ grieve” and “ quench” (resist) the Spirit; bu t there is no Scripture which teaches th a t the Spirit will be grieved away, or quenched away. So long as th e Spirit indwells, th e etern al purposes of God in grace are sure, and He m u st abide forever.
