Reynolds, Supt.—Meetings held in shops, factories, car-barns and fire engine houses in Los Angeles.

ITH th e commencement of school in the In stitu te, th e fall work in the Shop Department has taken on new interest.

Special Messages to Draw It is often necessary to announce something special in th e way of sub jects to be discussed in th e meetings in order to keep up the in terest of the men. In one of th e shops th e loss of in te re st was so noticeable th a t the stu dents in charge felt it was not worth while to keep on. However, we thought it well to make another effort and an nounced a series of talk s on “The Signs of the Times” .- The next week quite a number of the men were present. The following week still more came, and the th ird week a t least ninety per cent of th e men were in .attendance. We find th a t these special messages not only draw a large number of men, bu t also encourage th e students. The tak ing on of more meetings means th a t'o u r friends will have to get behind us in prayer and we covet a list of prayer-workers. If those who are specially interested in th is phase of the work will drop us a card giving th eir names and addresses, we will be glad to send them special requests from time to time.

Already fourteen Gospel crews are ta k ing the Good Npws to men who hunger for it but who woulfl not h ear the Word were it not for th is m inistry. As we look a t th e openings offered us we cannot bu t feel th a t th is will be the best year in th è history of th is wjsrk, and ju st as soon as we can place the students wh'o have been assigned to this work we will have twice th e number of meetings we have a t present. The other day a man asked th e ques tion: “How do the men respond to the messages?” and our answer to his ques tion may perhaps give our readers an insight into the work. Our aim is two-fold: F irst, to give th e Gospel to the m an; and, second, to provide a means whereby the In stitu te students may receive the train ing and experience necessary to enable them to conduct meetings themselves.

UR h eart has been made to re joice as we see sinners/being converted from th e erro r of th eir way. During the past

sowing. In a certain railroad camp th ere was a group of six men who from th e first showed much interest! in th e message, which was new to them , and each time as we left, they urged us to be sure to re tu rn soon. So we con-
