A STORY WITH A SEQUEL When th e work of the Bible In stitu te of Los Angeles was in its infancy, a lady from Philadelphia, on a visit to Los Angeles, saw the sign, “ Bible In stitu te ” on a building on Main S treet and decided to visit it and see what kind of work was being carried on. She b ecam e, so interested th a t she said if she’ could sell out h er business in Philadelphia she would bring her farpily to Los Angeles so th a t her chil dren m ight tak e the In stitu te training. God answered her prayer and enabled her to dispose h er business to advantage. She did move to Los Angeles and three of her daughters have graduated from the Institute. Two of them , Florence and Bessie, have been in China for some years now, Florence coming home this summer on furlough. The youngest daughter, Grace, who graduated from the In stitu te in June of th is year, has been accepted for work in the Bible In stitu te at Changsha, and together w ith her m other and sister Florence sailed October 19th for China. Accompanying them were Mr. and Mrs. Chester Rutledge and Miss W inifred Rouzee. Mr. and Mrs. Rutledge went to Changsha to assist Dr. Keller last year, bu t were compelled to retu rn this summer because of Mrs. Rutledge’s health. The Lord has wonderfully an swered prayer in her behalf, however, and she is now fully restored. Miss Rouzee has made a splendid record here as one of th e Bible Women of the Institute, having a large Bible class of public school teachers every week, and several classes among the Club women of the city. She goes to Nanking in response to an earnest ap peal from the T raining School there. Besides a class of seventy-five young women, she will have many other op portunities fo r service, and we are ex pecting to have some interesting mes sages from her in fu tu re numbers of The K ing’s Business.

Two young women from another city slipped into th e Lyceum Club for only one meeting. The messenger of the evening spoke on the Lord Jesus as revealed in the book of Philippians. These two young women along w ith several others yield ed th e ir h earts to the Lord Jesus Christ. The visiting girls, w ith g ratitude in th e ir h earts, told one of the workers as they hurried away to catch th e ir train, how glad they were th a t they had drop ped into the Lyceum Club th a t night. Did not th e angels in Heaven likewise rejoice? A School Teacher Changed A call was made on a school teacher, who was found to be lonely and dis couraged, w ith her faith in God’s Word sh attered through what she had to teach about evolution, and kindred subjects. She claimed to have “ had religion” once. The caller said, “Well, God has sent you a message today, may be, in answer to a prayer of one of your dear ones.” She answered, “ In my young life I had a godly g rand fath er whose prayers I rem ember.” A fter showing h er what she needed was to accept Christ Jesus Himself, we took His Word and H is promises and talked of His cleansing blood and the provision He has made if we stum b le—to a t once confess our sins— and she broke down as she got the vision of His love. We told Him all about it, and she prayed, “Lord, I believe: help Thou my unbelief.” She was glad to get a special Gospel of John. The next tim e we m et her, her face was full of joy, and she was advised to w rite and tell her husband (from whom she lived apart, bu t still loved) of th e change th a t had come into her h eart and life, and see if they m ight not sta rt a Christian home together.
