1270 night, strain ing his eyes to catch a firs glimpse of the vessel. The Lord Mayor of Liverpool was there. Bands of musicians and thousands of people waited to give her a welcome home. But the “Royal C h arter’’ never came in. She went down in the night with almost all on hoard. They came to Dr. Taylor, and said, “Will you go and tell the wife of the first m ate?” So he started off to tell her. As he laid his hand upon the door bell the door flew open, and a little girl sprang out, -crying “ Oh, Dr. Taylor, X thought it was my papa. He is coming home to day.” The preacher said he felt like an executioner as he walked into the house. He found the table laid for breakfast, and the wife of th e first mate stepped forward, her face shining, as she said, “Dr. Taylor, th is is indeed a privilege, and if you will wait a little while, perhaps you will sit a t our table w ith us, for my husband was on the ‘Royal C h arter,’ and he is coming home.” Dr. Taylor says he looked at her a moment, while he steadied himself and held on to a near-by chair and then said, “ Poor wpman, your husband will never come home. The ‘Royal C h arter’ went down last night, and your husband is lost.” He says th a t she threw her hands to her head, staggered for a moment, and then fell, and as she fell she cried, “Oh my God? so near home and lost.” Yes, and some of you are as near home as th at. Near by a m other’s pleading; n ear by the m inis te r’s preaching; near by the m issioner’s singing. You are almost in. God will keep you from rejecting him. How far one may go towards h om e' and still fall away!— “In th e Tw inkling of An Eye” A. J. Gordon, th a t g reat Boston preacher, tells of a dream th a t an unsaved man had, and it was a scrip tu ral dream. This man dreamed th a t

THE K I N G ’ S B U S I N E S S one morning he got up as God’s agent, His eternal Gabriel, blew th e judgm ent horn for th e end of tim e and for all those who had been saved to be caught up in the air. The dream was th a t he looked for his wife and could not find her. There were her clothes ju st as she had left them the night before. He said to himself, “ I judge she has gone' to open the door for th e serv an t.” He waited. She did not come. He dressed and went down to th e back door. He found the back door locked. He went out to th e serv an t’s house. His old servant was a Christian. There were his servan t’s clothes ju st as she had left them the night before and her bed was unoccupied. He came back and went upstairs to his son’s room and said, “Have you seen your m o th er?” “Why, F ath er, w hat has happened?” "W ell,” he s.aid, “ I cannot find her. Her clothes are downstairs in the room ju st as she left them last n igh t.” He said, “Maybe she is out in th e serv an t’s house.” “No, old Aunty is gone, too. Her clothes are ju st as she le ft them last night. I have been in your sister’s room and she is gone.” He said, “We went downstairs and as I went to open the door a man came along and asked, “Have you seen my w ife?” “No,” he said, “ Have you seen my w ife?” About th a t tim e along came a man all scared and said, “I came through the cemetery and th e graves, some of them , were open.” And he said, “Something has happened in th is town.” Oh, th a t was the coming of Jesus Christ. He said, “There shall be two in a bed; one shall be taken and th e other left. There shall be two grinding a t th e m ill; one shall be taken and the other left. There shall be two in the field; one shall be taken and the other left.” Some of these days, my friend, you are going to wake up and your loved ones will be caught up by th e angels of God into the air.
