How many th ink it would make our homes better, happier homes if boys and girls and grown up folks too, always re membered th a t Jesus sees and knows all we do? In our story this morning Jesus is teaching in one of th e syna gogues, which we call churches today. Among those who came in to h ear Jesus was a woman, who for eighteen years had been bent down w ith disease, so th a t she could not straigh ten herself nor lift herself up. J u st think, boys and girls, how long th a t was th a t she had suffered as she walked all bent over. T h at is a long time. Helen is six years old, and th is woman had been crippled th ree times six years. When Jesus saw this poor woman He called her to Him, and said, “Thou a rt made well of thy sickness.” Then He laid His hands on her,- and immediately she lifted herself up and was made straigh t, and she/ spoke, praising God. But the ru ler of the synagogue was angry because Jesus had healed her on th e Sahbath day. Now listen, children, even though this ru ler was a member of th e church, do you th ink the love of Jesus was really in his heart, when he could be angry because a poor suffering woman was made well on th e Sabbath day? He told the people if they wanted to be healed they must come on some o ther day than th e Sabbath. Now what do you th ink Jesus said. Listen! He asked th e peo ple how many of th em fed and gave w ater to th e ir cows and horses or any o ther animals they had on the Sabbath. Now, boys and girls, don’t we feed our chickens or rabbits, if we have any, on Sunday ju st the same as on other days? Yes, indeed we do, fo r it would be very cruel to make them suffer for food and w ater. Now Jesus said if it was righ t to do w hat was needful for the animals, th a t it was rig h t th a t th is woman, who had been suffering so long, should be

If its ch aracter is th a t of mercy it has the image of Jesus, who is the way, the tru th and the life.— Ballou. v. 17. Adversaries were ashamed. Note the different effects th a t th is had upon those who heard Him. Sooner or la ter all th e adversaries of Christ and deniers of His doctrine and miracles will be made ashamed. But the shame of His foes was th e joy of the people.— Henry. Jesu s Healing on th e Sabbath. Lube 13:10-17. Memory Verse.— “And all th e people rejoiced for all the glorious things th a t were done by H im .” Luke 13:17. Approach.— Children, have you ever been to a hospital? Jennie, what kind of a place was it? Where th ere are a number of sick people; some so sick th a t th e doctors BEGINNERS could not h e l p AND PRIMARY them ; others w ith Mabel L. M errill broken legs and arms. Of course it makes us feel sad to go to a hospital and see so many suffering people. When we have been real sick, we remember how badly we felt and how we longed to be well again. You know when I go to a hospital, it makes me feel very th ank fu l to God for health and strength. Let us bow our heads and th a n k Jesus for health and streng th so th a t we are able to be here in H is house th is morn ing. Lesson Story.—^What was it we heard last week th a t we were going to remem ber to do in our homes, a t play, in school, and in everything we did? Yes, William, th a t is right. We were going to remember th a t Jesu s is in our h earts and in our homes, even though we can-
