THE K I NG ' S B U S I N E S S appeared or shall h ereafter appear. They are th ere ju st in th e same sense as th e hen is in the egg, or th e bu tte r fly is in the caterp illar.’ “The Bible teaches us th a t God creat ed man. Shall we exchange God for th e gentlem an from C incinnati?” ate ate FINDINGS OF THE CRITICS There once was a Scotch preacher who had become indignant w ith the findings of the Biblical critics, which findings had d e a lt sorely w ith some of his favorite sermons, and he came into the pulpit one morning and said to his people, trium phantly: “My freens: When ance ye ta k up wi th e way of the infidel ye’re never sure w haur ye’re gaun or whaur it wull bring ye oot. Noo, thae Biblical cree- tik s hev made a most astonishin’ dis covery. We’ve aye bin bothered aboot the ages of th e p atriarch s— grand auld men th a t they were. The creetiks say th a t we maunna coont the years of the

1303 patriarchs as years, bu t jist as months; and if we want tae know hoo auld they were we maun divide th e Bible accoont -by twelve. There’s Methuselah, ye ken, n ear a thousand years auld, the Book says. Divide th a t by twelve and it makes him seventy-five, a decent auld age, as ye verra weel ken. And by the same recooning, ma freens, and by this ye wull see hoo wunnerfu’ th is new fangled creetical learning is— we find th a t Noah was the faith er of two strap- p in ’ lads when he was only five years auld.” ate ate WHERE WE LACK MOST I am persuaded th a t we are all more deficient in a sp irit of prayer th a n in any other grace. God loves im portunate prayer so much th a t He will not give us much blessing w ithout it. And th e rea son th a t He loves such prayer is th a t He loves us and knows th a t it is a necessary preparation for our receiving the richest blessings which He is w aiting 'and long ing to bestow.— E. M. Bounds.

A rm strong, who was associated w ith his wife as a prac tising physician until th e tim e of his death th ree years ago. “And Him she served— she sees Him as He is;

Her face has c a u g h t'th e radiance of His; Awake— and in His likeness— a t His side, Shadows are passed and she is satisfied.”
