with so many of her writings in one book, make it attractive for her admirers. The price is $ 2.00 and contains 260 pages. —O. G. B. —o— The Supreme Christ B y D r . E lwin L. H ouse W e welcome any book that exalts our Lord and Saviour. Dr. House, in 28 chapters, shows Jesus Christ to be the Supreme One o f all time, a divine Master, adequate for aljjthe needs of men. “Why has Unitarianisrn been so feeble that it has not beem mote successful as over against Trinitarianism?” he asks. “A hu man Christ has been weighed in the bal ance and found wanting. The Unitarians may have a simpler Christ, but He is an infinitely poorer one. He was dead, but is not alive. He claimed a victory which was not only a delusion, but blasphemy. A divine Christ we may not be fully able to understand; but it is the mystery of greatness, of atoning love, o f constant fellowship and full salvation which will evermore win the human heart.” Here is a book written with force, clarity and con viction, which we are sure will be a bless ing. Revell is the publisher. Price $1.25. —B. —o— A Girl of An Indian Garden By R uth E. R obinson Flora Robinson Howells lived a useful Christian life, spending her energy large ly for India. This book tells-of that life, quoting largely from letters which she wrote to friends. In the introduction we read: “Her letters are radiant, like her life, which keeps on shining in dark places,” One o f her successors in college, where she taught, s a i d “ Every time I saw her she was radiant with some new enthus iasm.” Her spiritual attitude made im possible things seem possible and reason able.” Young women especially should receive incentive, apd inspiration from reading how one young woman made the most of her life. Published by Revell Company; has 91 pages, price $1.00.—O. G. B. —o—- The Night a Ship Went Down B y M rs . C. N. J ackson A small 20-page, paper-cover booklet, giving in verse the true story o f the con version o f one soul the night the Titanic went down. Rev. John Harper was a true soul-winner and the recitation of his one thought when thrown into the dark waters of the sea, should be an incentive to every Christian. At, the conclusion o f the story is a bi ographical sketch o f Mr. Harper. While this booklet may be used to bring a lost soul to' see his need of a Saviour, it can also be used as an inspiration to soul-winners to grasp their every op portunity to speak for Christ. Published by Pickering & Inglis, London. Price 10c. —O. G. B. —o— Modem Pathfinders of Christianity B y H enry K. R owe , P h .D. In this book we have the story o f mod ern Christianity in biography form. From

the 13th century onward, Prof. Rowe gives us the lives of such pathfinders as Francis o f Assisi, John Wyclif, Martin Luther, John Calvin, Robert Browne, Roger Williams, George Fox, Jonathan Edwards, John Wesley, Francis Asbury, John F. Oberlin, William Carey, Alex ander Campbell, William Channing, Hor ace Bushnell, D. L. Moody, Henry Drum mond, Phillips Brooks, Walter Rauschen- busch and Borden Parker Brown. It will be observed that he ends the list with men who were more liberal in their theological views. It will be a question in the minds of many as to -the right o f some of these men to the title o f “ Pathfinder.” Didn't they lose it rather than find it? At any rate the closing chapters show us what Prof. Rowe considers to be the right path. The author is professor o f history and social science at Newton Theological Seminary. As a reference book, most of the material will be found useful even though we might quarrel with the pro cessor over the title o f his book. Revell' publishes this book ,at $2.00.—;M. E. —o — Power From On High B y R ev . J ohn G reenfield This book was written in honor o f the 200th anniversary o f the great Moravian revival: (1727-1927), by a man who has been known as the Moravian Evangelist. ,There.canie at one moment upon ajl the members of the Moravian band, some 300 in !jail,| a sense of the nearness o f Christ, which ¡has often been likened to a second Pentecost .'1 It ■was iisbi:'unanimous that members at work miles away from the place o f meeting and unaware that the meeting was being held, received: the blessing at the same time. The compara tive youth o f all the members who. made these wonderful ventures' of faith, was a striking feature o f the movement. People naturally timid and fearful, were in a mo ment of time transformed into flaming evangelists. Supernatural knowledge and power possessed them and no persecution could silence their testimony. Fifty years before the beginning of modern foreign missions by Carey, the Moravian Church led the way into pagan countries. It was their English missionary magazine, that inspired Carey to go out into the heathen world. Read the wonderful story of thi|§ movement, and the lessons drawn from it by Mr. Greenfield, and you will be blessed. The price is only 35 cents for a book of 94 pages.SB. —o— Grace, Government and Glory B y J ohn H unt L ynn The papers in this volume are printed at the repeated request o f those in fellow ship with the organization in England known as “ The Sovereign Grace Advent Testimony.” A wide range o f prophetic subjects is covered and Bible students and ministers interested in prophecy will find the papers very suggestive, although of course there will be differences o f opinion regarding some d eta ilsof interpretation. , The author does not hold the usually cur rent ideas as to the Apocalyptic Babylon and the rapture o f the church. He be lieves there are two dangerous evils to be guarded against by the Bible tea ch er- opinion and interpretation. The former, he declares, is essential heresy, for opin ion in relation to Scripture is presump-
