Lancaster Park is an exceptional housing development with an ethos of sustainability at its core. Based on the Passivhaus model, this exemplary development offers residents a much cleaner and greener way of living. Overall, the judges were particularly impressed with the attention to detail evident throughout the development, the high-quality design and layout as well as the innovative energy-efficiency measures which collectively contribute to the creation of an overall distinctive sense of place. Fraser Millar has pushed the boundaries in house building to create the first large-scale residential development with an Energy Performance Certificate ‘A’ rating in Northern Ireland. Brookfield Mill, located in an interface area on Crumlin Road, Belfast, has successfully breathed new life into an old five- storey linen mill by creating 77 much-needed new family homes. Judges were particularly impressed with EHA Group’s imaginative, rigorous and forward-thinking solutions, resolving significant engineering challenges encountered throughout the project. Brookfield Mill is an excellent example of how collaborative working can contribute to a development which regenerates an area. It provides a well-designed, high-quality and safe residential environment, which ultimately aims to improve residents’ health and wellbeing.
