INFRASTRUCTURE PROJECTS

The North West Greenway Network creates a new 10km pedestrian route and cycleway stretching from the village of Muff through Culmore Country Park and Brook Hall Estate & Gardens along the riverfront to Derry City Centre. Recognised by judges as a superb strategic development from inception to completion, the project benefitted from the client, consultants and contractors working collaboratively to resolve challenges such as complexities surrounding the new Pennyburn Bridge. Achieving a high-quality build and finishes, Northstone and FP McCann JV have also created a sustainable transport infrastructure for both the community and tourists, linking Derry City with residential areas, schools, businesses and local amenities. Working with the community for the community, GEDA Construction has delivered a project that sets a new benchmark for urban flood management. Targeting chronic urban flooding, the £7m project involved replacing outdated sewers with a new 1,800mm combined sewer and 900mm storm sewer. Innovative engineering techniques, such as tunnelling beneath Ravenhill Road, minimised disruption to the community and traffic while regular updates and interactive platforms kept stakeholders informed and involved. Completed in December 2023, the project has successfully managed significant rainfall events without any flooding incidents. It has also achieved five UN Sustainable Development Goals and fostered strong community ties through extensive outreach. Utilities Project of the Year, below £10m WINNER: GEDA CONSTRUCTION - RAVENHILL AVENUE FLOOD ALLEVIATION SCHEME, BELFAST
