GB & ROI GENERAL CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS

GB & ROI GENERAL CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS

Delivering London’s first all-suite five-star hotel created unexpected challenges for Piperhill Construction, such as clearing the Council-granted bus lanes for deliveries directly outside The Emory for both Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral and King Charles III’s coronation whilst works continued. Ultimately it was the quality and innovation in the contractor’s work which wowed judges, with each floor created by a different international designer complete with specific materials and finish, and multiple site managers dedicated to each designer throughout the fitout. Judges were amazed at what had been achieved within the fit-out budget, ultimately selecting Piperhill Construction as the clear winner in GB & RoI Fit-Out Construction Project of the Year, above £5m. GB & RoI Fit-Out Construction Project of the Year, above £5m WINNER: PIPERHILL CONSTRUCTION – THE EMORY HOTEL, LONDON L-R: Sean McErlean, Piperhill Construction, with Claire McCollum, host, Peter McClenaghan, NIE Networks (sponsor), Eddie Osborne and Nigel Glenn, Piperhill Construction, and Phil Spencer, host.

L-R: Claire McCollum, host, with Feargal McCormack, AAB (sponsor), Tony Mulholland and Richard Hayman, BAM/Farrans JV, and Phil Spencer, host.

Judges unanimously selected Herring Bridge, a huge design, civil and structural engineering scheme undertaken by Norfolk County Council, as a clear winner. Encompassing a double-leaf bascule bridge and upgrade to 2.8km of highway infrastructure, the project was delivered within the original budget of £121m in an operational port environment. Challenges such as dealing with an unexploded World War II bomb were overcome, with the project significantly easing traffic congestion and shortening journey times since opening in February 2024. Connectivity between the port and the national road network is enhanced, supporting economic growth, with the project enhancing Great Yarmouth as a centre for the offshore industry.
