LISMORE COLLEGE, CRAIGAVON
ENGAGING WITH THE PROJECT SINCE ITS PRE-CONSTRUCTION DESIGN STAGE BACK IN OCTOBER 2021, HARVEY GROUP HAS BEEN INSTRUMENTAL IN DEVELOPING OPTIMAL SOLUTIONS… M&E SERVICES
Harvey Group PLC delivered the design, development and installation of mechanical and electrical (M&E) services for Lismore College. This innovative 15,800sqm new-build school in Craigavon achieves high standards in operational and sustainable performance, whilst also providing a full range of teaching accommodation suitable for a modern, 1,200-pupil school. The school also benefits from a large Learning Support Centre, making this a fully-inclusive, ‘full-spectrum’ learning facility. M&E services were coordinated with architectural and structural elements using 3D software and adopted BIM Level 2 principles. This active approach
to coordination reduced on-site issues and increased productivity by ensuring installations were ‘right first time’. On completion, an asset model was presented to the College, which will be a significant benefit to on-going maintenance of the building. High efficiency boilers and LED lighting, lighting controls, low temperature heating systems, renewable energy technology and an innovative approach to operating design parameters were incorporated into the project, alongside a state-of-the-art building management system and energy-metering strategy, to achieve a BREEAM Excellent facility. The project also benefits from underfloor heating, natural ventilation, fire detection
and a public address system, LV distribution, emergency lighting and audio-visual systems. Ryan McLernon, Director, said, “Our early involvement during the design process allowed us to suggest and incorporate modern approaches to MEP services, which reflect the goal of creating a visionary and forward- thinking new school. We utilised new and innovative solutions with knowledge and experience gained from our extensive experience in the education sector.” With the solutions implemented, Harvey Group was able to reduce not only running costs, but also lifecycle maintenance costs for the College.
