One Maag America – Together, as a team, we can accomplish more Dear Team MAAG Americas, As we enter a somewhat tougher year with respect to the overall investment environment, MAAG Group is holding its own. We are behind AOP in the Americas both in Revenue and in EBIT yet in February Group financials were above our forecast and only slightly below AOP. Two larger systems that were discounted just as Covid started and finally shipped pulled us down in the USA. February bookings on the Group level were slightly above forecast and in general, the quoting activity remains stable and there is little indication of a weakening market. US market has softened a bit and we do see delays in receiving PO’s. Team Kent conducted an On-time delivery Kaizen event this week and identified multiple areas of improvement. As they start to implement such we will learn from the outcome and will also conduct an event in Eagle Rock. Many of the issues identified by the team that lead to our current meager On-time performance for capital projects are also relevant for Eagle Rock’s processes. Key to success for these events is that action items developed in the workshop are being pushed into action plans right away – meaning the team has developed plan to start executing improvements next Monday. The full effect of any changes will not be felt until later in the year due to current backlog and systems going through under current processes. I am optimistic that we can significantly improve on this measure for the benefit of our customers and the benefit of our teams to reduce turmoil, re-scheduling and frustration and shall see the seedlings of meaningful change by mid year. Cheers - Martin

It isn’t a secret that I believe recycling is a defining topic for our entire industry. The most important conference and show regarding plastic recycling was held this week in Washington and MAAG participated with a nice booth that highlighted our technology solutions that contribute to turn plastic waste into quality pellets again that in turn end up in consumer products. There is significant movement in the USA to strengthen plastic recycling with investments in chemical recycling (Exxon, Eastman) and new players in mechanical recycling such as PureCycle and Circulus. On the political and regulatory side is also movement – including talk about a National Bottle Bill (something unheard off such a few years ago)

Safety Message

March Ladder Safety March is National Ladder Safety Month, which began in 2017. The Consumer Product Safety Commission and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention report that more than 500,000 people are treated (over 1,300 per day) and about 300 people die from ladder-related injuries every year in the United States. The estimated annual cost of ladder injuries in the U.S. is $24 billion, including work loss, medical, legal, liability, and pain and suffering expenses. Government tracking systems show a higher rate of falls from ladders amongst older, self-employed males working in smaller establishments and employed in construction, maintenance, and repair. However, anyone can be injured or killed when they misuse a ladder. It is evident that ladder-related falls are a serious problem and there is a need to reduce the resulting injury and death .

Favorite Recipe Janet Groborchik, HR in Kent , is kicking us off sharing one of her favorite recipes. Thank you, Janet, for sharing one of your secrets. If you have not tried Janet’s amazing treats you are missing out! Taco Ring Topping Ideas: 1 lb. lean ground beef or turkey Shredded lettuce ½ cup onion – peeled and diced Guacamole ½ cup water Chopped avocado 1 package (1 oz.) taco seasoning Chopped tomato 2 cans crescent rolls Sour cream 1 cup shredded cheese Chopped Onion Black Olives Directions: 1.

Meet Dino! Our first Best Friends feature is credited to Mike Diletti. Thank you for sharing the flair of Mr. Dino!

Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add the ground meat and onions; cook until the meat is no longer pink. Pour off any excess fat. Add the water and taco seasoning and cook over low heat for about 10 minutes, stirring often. Open the crescent rolls and separate the triangles. Arrange the triangles in into a circle by placing on a large baking sheet or pizza pan with the wide end of the triangles overlapping and the pointed ends facing out to create the look of a sunburst. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees Spoon the meat mixture onto the overlapped dough area of the circle. Sprinkle with the shredded cheese. Take the pointed end of the dough triangle and bring it up and over the meat and cheese filling and tuck it under the inside edge of the circle. Repeat until all the points of dough have been tucked in and most of the meat is covered by the dough. Sprinkle with a little extra cheese if desired. Bake the taco ring for 18-20 minutes or until golden brown. If desired, layer the toppings in the center of the ring. Cut into slices and serve.
