What Can I Eat?
There are three main nutrients in food:
Carbohydrates
Proteins
Fats
The nutrient that will raise your blood sugar is carbohydrates. Proteins and fats have only a small impact on your blood sugar. You still need some carbohydrates. You just need to pay attention to how many carbs you eat. Foods that have carbohydrates are: • Breads • Cereals (hot or cold) • Starchy food like rice, pasta, crackers, corn, and potatoes • Fruit • Milk and yogurt • Beans and legumes (such as black beans, kidney beans, garbanzo beans, lentils) • Sweets and sugary foods, including honey and molasses
