THE FIRST APPEARANCE OF JEEVES AND WOOSTER

54. The Man With Two Left Feet And Other Stories WODEHOUSE, P.G.

Methuen & Co. Ltd., 1917. First edition. Original salmon cloth titled in black to the upper cover and spine. A very good copy with a few splashes to the upper cover and tanning to the spine. Bookplate to the front pastedown and a little foxing to the preliminaries, but generally fresh and, by the standards of this notoriously fragile work, a well pre- served copy. [44456] £6,500 One of the rarest of all Wodehouse titles, notable for containing the first appearance in book form of Bertie Wooster and his manservant Jeeves, who both feature in the story Extricating Young Gussie . Due to the war time paper restrictions, books of this period were printed in small numbers and from poor quality materials, with the result that few survive to this day. McIlvaine A21a
