THE KING' S BUSINESS “And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus.“ “The eyes of your understanding being en­ lightened; that ye may know what is the hope of His calling, and what the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints. “And what is the exceeding greatness of His power to us-ward who believe, according; to the working of His mighty power. “And hath put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be the head over all things to the church. “Which is His body, the fulness of Him that filleth all in all.*' And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power, And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church, Which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all.” (4) SOUNDING HIS PRAISE, vs. 7-12. The heart of the queen was full and her lips burst forth in praise. “ Blessed be the Lord thy God.” Just as Hiram did in chapter 5:7. “And it came to pass, when Hiram heard the words of Solomon, that he rejoiced greatly, and said, Blessed be the Lord this day, which hath given unto David a wise son over this great people.'* This praise was spontaneous. “ 0, the happiness of thy men and these thy servants which stand continually before thee.” She was a queen, but all the glory of her kingdom faded in the sight of Solomon’s glorious reign. And how shall it not he with the ser­ vants of the Lord God onnipotent, who have been taken from a vile estate of sin, from the kingdom of darkness and have been translated into the Kingdom of His dear Son? Shall there not be continual notes of praise breaking forth from our lips, and shall we not he say­ ing, “ Blessing and glory and wisdom and thanksgiving and honor and power and might be unto our king forever and ever. Amen?” And she accompanied her praise with gifts amounting to $3,600,000,00. How different from so many of us! While ottr King died for us and saved us with His own blood, and we have gifts so far

869 beyond those given to Solomon and Sheba, we are prone to peddle out our pennies in little dribs. She carried away to her home not only the consciousness of a new friend, a knowledge of a new God, but what­ ever her heart craved from his bounty. Every point in this lesson has its ap­ plication to us as believers in Jesus Christ. May the Lord help us to take them all and enjoy a new sense of the value of wisdom, power, glory and love of our Solomon and appropriate by faith all that belongs to us through faith in His sacrificial love. PRACTICAL POINTS (1) Blessed are those who having not Seen yet have believed. (2) Arouse an interest in Jesus’ advent by telling the truth concerning His atonement. (3) How shall they hear without a preacher? (4) When you have told it all, you have not told the half. (5) Solomon was the wisest of men, but our King was the wisdom of God. ( 6 ) His gift to us is priceless; ours to Him are parsimonious. (7) Solomon was great, but One greater 1 than Solomon is here. ( 8 ) He has an answer for every ques­ tion you can ask, and a reply id every request. m Subject Illustration. A Courtier of Charles II. said: “ Here lies our sovereign lord, the King, Whose word no man relies on, Who never said a foolish thing, And never did a wise one.” ’ But this couplet is not true of Solomon, for he said many wise things. “He spake three thousand proverbs, and his sayings were -a thousand and five.”
