Wine, beer, whis key and some other drinks are poison, hut one glass may not seem to do much harm. When people drink it they want more and more all the time, until the poison burns in the stomach and hard ens the brain. The part that is poison in all these drinks is called alcohol-— some have more, some less alcohol, but every drop is poison. Now I have some alcohol in this bottle, which is marked poison. Now we will break this egg and pour the white off into the glass. This white is like the part of our mind or brain, the part of us with which we think. Watch closely and see what the alcohol will do to the egg. See, it is turning the egg white and making it hard, and that is just what the alcohol does to our brains so they cannot think as they should. That is why people Who drink do such awful things, treat ing their own families very cruelly, and many times they strike and kill people for the poor brains are so full of alco hol poison they do not know what they are doing. Therefore, Daniel and his friends said they would not eat of the meat or drink the wine which
