MISPLACED WORRY Mrs. Silas Bennett was a philosopher. On a certain dismal occasion some of the neighboring women were condoling with her. With commendable cheerful ness she replied: “ I’ve raised four girls an’ three boys, expectin’ every time they’d be twins and red-headed like their Grand pa- Bennett and yet they ain’t. “ An’ through it all, it never oncet oc- small-pox breakin’ out in my big family. So fer, ’tain’t. “ Last summer, durin’ July an’ August, an’ mebbe part of September, I was real melancholic, fearin’ I’d got an appendix; but I guess I ain’t. “An’ through it all, it never once oc curred to me that I’d be the-one to fall through them rotten old meetin’ house steps an’ breaks my legs in two places; but I be.”—New York Times. THE BOY MOODY It is told of D. L. Moody, that he once in his younger days showed himself con spicuously on the last day of school in one of the district schools where he was to have part in the exhibition exercises. He had the closing declamation, and he chose to give, with his accustomed vigor the oration of Mark Antony over the dead body of imperial Caesar. To the great surprise, and somewhat to the delight of the teacher, he brought m a box which he set on the teacher’s desk to represent the casket of the immortal Caesar, that he might visualize the scene while he was speaking. But in the closing moments of the declamation, in the aroused interest of the speech, he knocked the box off the desk and a cat jumped out and put an end to the meeting. Moody acknowledged that he had done that. He did not make any effort to hide it.
