HackensackMeridian School of Medicine at SetonHall University

Location: Nutley, NJ Size: 250,000 SF

Hackensack Meridian Health/Seton Hall University’s new Interprofessional Health Sciences campus is an excellent example of an adaptive reuse of an existing laboratory building. For more than 80 years, pharmaceutical compa- ny Hoffmann-La Roche occupied the existing site, which led to environmental issues associated with contaminated groundwater and soil. With Torcon’s renovations, the site is now a multi-model virtual healthcare training center. The newly-opened School of Medicine houses simulation centers, patient clinics, a library, casual eating facilities, stu- dent lounges and classroom space. There are also extensive skills laboratories for nursing, physiology and gross anato- my, administrative and faculty offices, and an auditorium.

Location: Montclair/ Glen Ridge, N.J. Size: 45,735 SF

Standing at three stories and 45,735 s/f, The Hampshire Companies’ state-of-the-art medical office building project which broke ground in the summer of 2018 will enhance the scope and quality of comprehensive healthcare services and bring additional economic and quality-of-life benefits to the communities Mountainside Medical Center serves. Designed to meet the needs of 21st century health care pro- viders, the medical office building will offer physicians and specialists with the high-quality, class A office space they desire to build their practices and provide the best in class care to the local community.

The 37,500 s/f primary care facility was a former Giant supermarket that had closed four years prior. The health center will feature 40 rooms for medical and pediatric ex- ams, optometry, podiatry, dentistry and other specialty care practices. Parts of the building will be leased for lab ser- vices, physical therapy and Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children. The health cen- ter’s designation requires them to take care of all patients, regardless of ability to pay, and receives funding and other incentives to help it care for those living near poverty.
