The Ambulatory Surgery Center at the Hunterdon Health- care Medical Office Building in Bridgewater, NJ trans- formed approximately 7,500 s/f into a thriving medical facility. The completed project includes four operating rooms, pre- and post-op areas, nurse’s station, equipment storage areas and a waiting room. The design emphasized an intuitive circulation with open nursing stations acting as hubs for each specialty, creating touchpoints between pa- tients and providers throughout the space. Why was this particular job your favorite/most unusual? The Hunterdon Healthcare Ambulatory Surgery Center was a favorite of 2018 because it was the realization of another phase of a complex renovation project which transformed a 55,000 s/f, three-story, former Bank of America build- ing into a thriving medical office practice. Due to various project elements, it required a complex phasing plan, which first refit the second floor of the building into medical of- fices, and then refit the third floor into the Ambulatory Sur- gery Center.

family homes. This was a pivotal location identified to create a new transit oriented mixed-use project. A significant site challenge of a 22’ vertical rise from the street was overcome by stepping the building along the fire wall locations. There- by eight levels of Type 5A wood framed construction occur from lowest to highest point. Why was this particular job your favorite/most unusual? The project reclaimed an area that was underused in rela- tion to promoting alternative transit. By regenerating this site as a multi-modal site and placing up to 800 residents here in place of 29 single family homes, within ¼ mile walking distance to the train station, this project greatly increased to chances for limiting vehicular miles and increasing transit use. The design team decided to purposely turn and break a corner of the building to face directly at the metro station and provide an elevator lobby for commuters integral to the project success. By reclaiming an existing challenged site, our team maximized the site’s potential, and spared a green field development.

The interior design for Main and Vine, (the newest bistro in Villanova), is inspired by the Napa Valley, and shows a style that is classic, modern, and experiential. The open floor plan comfortably seats 150+ guests. With a neutral color palette of gray, white, and charcoal, this California casual venue reflects clean lines in a refined way. The warm woods surround the space and seating is enveloped in natu- ral textures like linen, leather, velvet and wovens. White marbled quartz tops, ebony and brushed bronze metals, as well as accents of collegiate blue welcome you in, as the custom wall art of herbs and harvest complete the look. Whether you dine at the Front Bar with a custom wine stor- age room; the Main Dining with banquettes and soft wo- ven seating, the Private Dining area seated at the handmade harvest table; or the live edge Pizza Bar; each section of Main & Vine offers an experience that is clean, fresh, and approachable...including the cuisine.
