Disordered eating cont.

Not all young people who develop eating disorders require hospital care. However, inpatient treatment may be required at times if their weight is dangerously low. The use of the Mental Health Act 1983, and feeding a young person against their will, are only used as a last resort (216). Other supports: Family and friends should be provided with information on the nature, course, and treatment of eating disorders where appropriate. Mood/food diaries can help the young person to monitor their thoughts and feelings. For specific helpful resources and contacts sign in to your MHFAider Support App or go to the Hub of Hope website . Eating disorder charity Beat is particularly helpful.
