If stopping self-harm is unrealistic in the short-term, professionals may focus on harm reduction. Many CAMHS teams provide a rapid response service for those young people who present at A&E with self-harm injuries. GPs are frequently seeing young people who need help with self- harm, and therefore GPs have a key role to play in supporting young people who have self-harmed (273).
