Minimum mental wellbeing/fitness

1. Top-right quadrant A young person who has positive mental health and wellbeing, and no diagnosis of a mental health condition, would sit in the top-right quadrant. A young person in this quadrant is thriving, coping well with life, and can adjust to day-to-day challenges without an overwhelming impact on their quality of life. However, young people in this quadrant will still experience difficult days or weeks and may still require Youth MHFA support. It is important to remember that a supportive conversation is just as crucial for those who are generally well but are feeling distressed in the moment, and can prevent them developing a pattern or period of poor mental health. Nothing should be deemed too big or small to talk about. We should aim to develop young people’s confidence to engage in help-seeking behaviour.
