BICYCLE PATH TO ART

The “Water Pillars”, the “Freedom, love, death” sculpture, the “The third ear” sculpture or the “Eurodance” sculpture – these are just a small selection of the works of art which await you

right on the Radweg-zur-Kunst (bike path). The 59 kilome- tre long bike path is divided into five themed sections and takes you along the courses of the Gande, Lamme and In- nerste rivers. You should certainly get off your bike in the cathedral town of Hildesheim, at the Bad Salzdetfurth spa park and at Lamspringe monastery, to name but a few – it’s well worth it. www .radweg-zur-kunst.de CULTURE ROUTE monuments to visit along the way. The 800 kilometres of the Cultural Route link together the far reaches of Hanover’s hinterland. Part of it incorporates already existing longdistan- ce cycle paths such as the Weser, Aller and Leine-Heide Cycle Paths. Cyclists can cover the whole Cultural Route in 15 day- long stages of 40 to 50 kilometres each, discovering amazing cultural sites, lively towns and charming landscapes along the way. Four stages pass through the Hildesheim holiday region. www .kulturroute-hannover.de The Cultural Route extends beyond the borders of the Hildesheim holiday region. As the name sug- gests, there are numerous cultural beacons and

the holiday region of Hildesheim. Beautiful views of the Leine valley, picturesque half-timbered towns and plenty of sights such as the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Fagus Factory in Alfeld or Marienburg Castle near Nordstemmen await you along the route. Shelters and rest areas round out the offering. The two signposted alternative routes near Alfeld are still something of an insider’s tip. The Stork Route leads you to a viewing platform with a magnificent view of the stork’s nest, while another route takes you through Alfeld’s medieval town centre. The 32-km-long bicycle path from Seesen via Bockenem along the Nette to Holle is perfect for a leisurely day’s ride. Sights to see along the way include the Bockenem Tower Clock Museum, Sottrum Family Park, Schloss Derneburg and the Laves Cultural Trail at the castle. www. ambergau-radweg.de www. leineheideradweg.de AMBERGAU BIKE PATH
