WELL-KNOWN: ITH-HILS ROUTE In the picturesque Leine Uplands to the south, a day stage of the Ith-Hils route stretches approximately 19 kilometres. This well-signposted quality hiking route takes you from Del- ligsen to Duingen, starting at the car park by the Delligsen outdoor pool. The trail leads you across the Steinberg and Reuberg hills, culminating at the southern part of the Duin- ger Berg hill range. Early on, you’ll pass the Gerzer cliffs, an impressive rock formation and popular spot for bouldering. Midway along the route, you’ll discover the fascinating and accessible “Lippoldshöhle”, a cave nestled within a 15-me- tre-high rock face (don’t forget to bring a torch!). At the end of the route, the Leine Uplands balcony rewards hikers with breathtaking views over the Külftal valley. This stage of the Ith-Hils route is ideal for both beginners and seasoned walkers. On 7 September 2025, the 6th Ith-Hils Hiking Day is held, with local communities along the Ith-Hils route inviting you to join them for guided tours. www .ith-hils-weg.de BY THE WATER: INNERSTE-LEINE ROUTE A hike along the Innerste and Leine rivers, ideal for families, starts at the “Jahn-Sportpark” car park in Sarstedt. You will walk under a dense canopy of leaves, always along the river, towards the Sackpiepe near Ruthe. At this quiet headland, the Innerste meets the Leine.
