for his administration of “Rebirth, Reclaim, Recommit, by Leaving No Brother Behind”. The 24 th Administra- tion’s strategy for delivering on the Grand Polemarch’s vi- sion is simple —we are getting “Back to the Basics”! We will deliver the Grand Polemarch’s vision with a “founda- tion” of Brotherhood and leveraging the “pillars of en- ablement” of Undergraduate Support, Service, Commu- nication, Training, Technology and Risk Management. For the Grand Polemarch’s vision to be realized, we must have strong and vibrant chapters. Our ultimate goal is local chapter success and sustainability. Journal: What does it mean to be in the 33 rd Adminis- tration? Kyles: It is truly a privilege and honor to serve in the 33 rd Administration of Grand Polemarch Battles. I first met Brother Battles in 1995 when I was a part of 28 th Grand Polemarch Ronald R. Young’s administrative team. Over the years our relationship has grown and truly matured when he served as Senior Grand Vice Polemarch and I as Senior Province Vice Polemarch. He has always been a Nupe’s Nupe and truly places “Brotherhood” at the forefront of everything he does. He makes it easy to support his vision for the fraternity because of his leadership style and demeanor.

Journal: What advice would you give to those who want to pursue a career your profession? Kyles: The advice I would give anyone trying to pur- sue a career in any profession is first you must excel academically. Most companies won’t consider candi- dates unless they have a 3.0 GPA or better. Secondly, although grades are important, relationships are even more important. You must have the interpersonal skills to develop meaningful relationships with your peers and those that can mentor you. Those relationships will be the difference (in most cases) in how fast you advance in your career. Lastly, leverage this great platform called “Kappa” to develop the leadership skills you will need to be successful in any profession. Attend your Grand Chapter Meeting, your Province Council, your C. Rod- ger Wilson Leadership Conference, your Undergraduate Summit and other events that you have access to by virtue of your membership.
