MIDDLE EASTERN PROVINCE

Watson: To be an effective Prov- ince Polemarch, you must have a vision and then empower others to help you fulfill that vision. Be- cause of the talent and hard work of the officers, Board members, committee chairs, and advisors, we have been able to accomplish so much in the Middle Eastern Prov- ince (MEP). I have come to learn that if you delegate with clarity and direction, the Brothers will deliver every time. Journal: Why is your province the best in Kappa Alpha Psi ® ? Watson: Based upon my travels and what I’ve seen, the Middle Eastern province is just differ- ent. Our density and proximity to each other makes for unique bonding opportunities. One hundred percent of the under- graduate population in the MEP is concentrated in the state of North Carolina. When you combined that fact there are 25 active under- graduate chapters—nine HBCUs along with the fact that job oppor- tunities and graduate schools keep Brothers in the state after college, what results is a “undergraduate centered culture.” It makes for a great experience for alumni mem- bers because the spirit of Brother-
