be successful in a major firm. At the end of that summer, the law firm offered me a full time job immediately following law school. Although, I did not ultimately accept the offer, I must say thank you to Brother Nash for his assistance. Finally, I may not be an at- torney if not for a letter of recommendation that came from our 26 th Grand Polemarch Robert L. Harris, Esq. Again, Kappa has played a major role in my legal and educa- tional career.

tion. During my tenure as Province Polemarch, we have developed five pillars, which we hope inspire a generation of leaders, here in the Middle Western Province and elsewhere in and throughout the Fraternity. The Five Pillars are (i) Undergraduate Affairs/Engage- ment, (ii) Succession Planning/Leadership, (iii) Reclamation, (iv) Corporate Social Responsibility/Corporate Partnership and (v) the Senior Kappa Engagement and Endowment Fund. Through devel- oping each pillar, it is my belief the Middle Western Province will strengthen its foundation and infrastructure to allow for healthy and sustainable growth.

Barry: At the end of the day, I am extremely proud of the Middle Western Province. We are not a large province and probably consid- ered a small province. Nonetheless, we bring a big stick to the table every time. The bottom-line—we deliver when called upon. Journal: What advice would you give to those who want to pursue a career in the legal profession? Barry: I truly believe a Juris Doctor (JD) degree provides one of the best educations one can receive. I believe the it is one of the best not just because of how Law Professors force you to think differently but rather the diverse career opportunities/directions that open up to you once your receive your JD degree. One can become a private, corporate or a trial attorney, become an FBI agent, Law Professor, sports agent, Judge, politician, or public policy advisor just to name a few. The one piece of advice I would give those who are consider- ing the profession and have a business sense (additional time and money)—spend the extra year to earn a joint JD and MBA. By doing this, you will open more doors and opportunities following gradua- tion.

Province Polemarch?

Barry: I administer the role of Province Polemarch with solid leadership through collaboration, transparency and inclusion. I believe as Province Polemarch of the Middle Western Province it is important that I col- laborate with my Board of Directors and the entire body, as well as be very transparent and inclusive ultimately trying to build trust with all brothers in the Province. As I men- tioned at the 94 th Middle Western Province Council the art and science of true leader- ship is understanding and valuing Brothers by appreciating their diverse skills, abili- ties, experience and strengths each Brother brings to our Fraternity. The foundation, infrastructure and groundwork has been laid for a bright future, we are simply here to guide in an upward and onward direc-
