Hubbard Alexander 1939-2016 Dallas Cowboys and NFL Assistant Coach

H ubbard Alexander won three Super Bowl championships with the NFL Dallas Cow- boys and one college football championship with the University of Mi- ami (FL) Hurricanes. A longtime coach in the NFL and college football, Hub- bard Alexander passed into the Chapter Invisible on August 28, 2016. Brother Alexander was an initiate of the Tennes- see State Chapter, the Alpha Theta of Kappa Alpha Psi. “Very sad. He’s just one of the all-time greats,” said Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett, a quarterback for the Cowboys

from 1993-99. “You get a chance to be around some special people in the NFL, special players and special coaches, and he certainly is one of those guys. He did such an amazing job for those championship teams in the ‘90s. He was an amazing coach in so many different ways. If your job as a coach is to bring the best out in your players, he just was able to do that.” “He connected so well with the re- ceivers, but not only with the receiv- ers – with everybody on offense and everybody on the team. He was so highly regarded. He was such a passionate guy.

He will be sorely, sorely missed.”

Born on February 14, 1939 in Winston- Salem, North Carolina, Alexander graduated from Winston-Salem’s Atkins High School in 1958. Hubbard played high school football, basketball, and baseball. He earned four varsity letters in football, three in basketball and four in baseball. Alexander led the basketball team to the N.C.H.S.A.A. State Cham- pionship during the 1956–57 season. He was captain of the 1958 football and basketball teams his senior year while earning All-City/County and All-State honors in football. Alexander attended
